Hello, my name is Hilton but my foster family calls me Colt, which is short for Colton. I live with two large dogs and a small guy. . . . oh and small humans. . . ages 7, 9 & 11. There are no cats in my foster home but given my oh so sweet dispostiion, I may not mind having a cat sibling in my furever home. I love love love toys and am highly toy motivated. I do like to play with the little humans' toys but I will stay away from them if I have my very own box of toys. Softballs, and just balls in general, are my favorites!!! I've been known to pop a few basketballs. . . 3 to be exact. I do enjoy the occasional stuffed animal but if you redirect me, I will try my best to leave them alone. I am curious on lead but do well when we go for walks. The kid in my foster home sometimes leaves the front door open and I sneak out with him. Not to worry as I never leave the front yard. I am no dummy and am not ending up on some yucky streets again. Please visit me and let me show you how AWESOME I truly am.
Note from foster mom: Colt is such a sweet boy. He fell right in with my brood the first day. Our home consists of large dogs, a small dog and children in and out of the house as my neighbrhood kids are over often. My elderly father lives nearby and Colt often does not realize his size or strength so he is still working on not jumping but is easily redirected. He knows, sit, stay, shake and down and is highly toy and treat motivated. He thinks he is a lap dog and just wants to be with his people at ALL times. The crate is not his fave but he does know how to "crate" and will sleep in it at night without incident. Sometimes we take him out to the farm and he enjoys the wide open spaces. We keep trying to convince him he is not a hunting dog but no luck as of yet. Lol. The only issue we have had is with our male Lab mix, who can be quite the territorial and jealous brat at times. He and Colt have gotten into it a couple of times. Colt likely spent some time on the streets as he will not instigate but he will also NOT back down. He does have small scars all over his body which could have been caused while living on the streets. Colton is an AMAZING dog and any family would be sooooo very lucky to have him. We adore him and are confident he will find his forever home in no time at all.
